Chris and Amy live in a 1970’s three bedroom semi-detached house in a quiet cul-de-sac on a development called Henley Rise. They decided to relocate to this area nine years ago to be closer to Amy’s parents and because the schools in the area are highly rated. The decision to change their front door was spontaneous, here’s why:
Chris says “After spotting other composite doors on the daily dog walk I took it upon myself to call my wife and asked her if we could visit FIS Windows to browse their showroom. She asked when we should go and I suggested….now, well once she had finished work”.
Chris and Amy had used FIS Windows on a number of occasions and had seen Solidor posts on Facebook so they were familiar with the brand. Amy says, “Once we inside the showroom we were wowed by the Solidor display doors gracing the entrance. On closer inspection the product quality was clear to see, and after a demonstration on the different door locking mechanisms, door styles and colours we agreed that we wanted a new Solidor door but then had the job of narrowing down one we wanted”.
Due to the age and the style of their home, Chris and Amy wanted a traditional style door that would subtlety blend in with the rest of the neighbourhood. They decided on the Tenby 4 in Painswick.
Chris says “We found that there was plenty of choice in terms of styles and colour from Solidor. The selection of door furniture and glazing options were great too. My wife fell in love with the Dorchester glass and feel it really sets the door off and stand out”.
Because Solidor use RAL colour codes Chris and Amy were able to buy matching paint for their garage door.
Chris says “We painted the garage doors in Painswick based on the RAL code provided by Solidor prior to the door being fitted and since installation it’s lovely that they’re a perfect match. It really has improved the appearance of our home”
Chris and Amy have noticed an improvement in the warmth that their new Solidor provides and they’ve received many compliments from visitors on how the new door looks.
Amy says, “Our old door gave us a draught in the hallway which is now completely gone. The new door looks and feels very solid so we know that we’re safe when we lock it at night.
When the sun hits the glass it projects beautiful colours onto our hallway walls. Last week a lady arrived at the door and when I opened it to greet her she simply said “what a beautiful door you have, absolutely stunning’. We get similar compliments all the time, it’s brilliant.
