“My old wooden door was old-fashioned and never seemed to fit right,” Mr Staveley told us. “It was warped and, depending on the outside temperature, the door would often catch in the frame – I decided it was time for a new front door. I like the appearance of wooden doors, but having been very disappointed with what I would have said was a good quality, double glazed solid hardwood door, I wanted to find an alternative.”
Mr Staveley visited Aire Valley Glass in West Yorkshire, where the team talked him through all the options. “I didn’t want a boring old door – I wanted something that would look fresh and modern, but still in keeping with the traditional style of the house,” said Mr Staveley. “When I saw the style of the Solidor Flint and learned about the benefits of a Solidor composite door, I knew that’s what I was looking for. Because I wanted to retain the appearance of real wood, I opted for the Irish Oak colour which has a life-like woodgrain running through it. Seeing the Solidor doors in the showroom made the process very easy – Aire Valley Glass were really helpful and the price was right, so I placed an order.”
“The door has been fitted for a while now and I’m so happy with my choice – it’s a brilliant door, so secure and it has really freshened up the entrance to the house,” said Mr Staveley. “Not only does it look great, the biggest difference is the temperature in the hallway – we no longer have draughts coming in through the front door. And when I close the door behind me, I really feel that I’m shutting out the sound too – it’s unbelievable really, previously we could hear noise from the main road nearby but now we can’t hear a thing.””
