Mrs Partington, Preston

February 9th 2017

Mrs Partington lives in a 1930’s semi-detached red brick house in a small village near Preston.

Her home originally had an arched porch but Mrs Partington decided to update the entrance.  “Our old front door was recessed, creating a traditional small porch.  However, in order to create more space inside, we decided to move our front door forward and fill the arch of the doorway.  Now, not only does our home look incredible, this has been a relatively inexpensive way to extend our hallway and increase our living space.”

After researching online, Mrs Partington came across The Solidor Range “The style of doors and handles appealed to us. We liked the modern and contemporary look and also saw that Solidor made arched doors, which is what we really needed”.

Mrs Partington contacted McDermott Windows, a Premium Solidor Installer in Blackburn to discuss their options “We originally wanted an arched door but our gap was just too tall. And so we worked with McDermott Windows, as well as Universal Arches, to come up with the design we have now, which we love”. (Do we have a name – first name – of the person that helped them?)

After a lot of deliberation Mrs Partington opted for a Siena style door, from the Contemporary Italia Collection, with Potomac Glass and an arched frame.  “We liked the contemporary look of the door.  No one in the village has that design and I wanted something that stands out!  The curvature of the glass really compliments the archway of the door and just pulls the whole look together”.

With 20 colour options available Mrs Partington found it difficult to choose.  “Again I wanted something modern.  I love the Rich Aubergine colour but my husband wouldn’t let me have that.  In the end we both agreed on the Anthracite Grey as it stands out against the white frame and red bricks”.

The door has only just been installed but already Mrs Partington has noticed a difference. It has only been in a couple of hours, but it’s already so much quieter.  I’d recommend Solidor, McDermotts and Universal Arches to anyone, they have been extremely helpful and professional in coming up with a design we absolutely love”.
