Solidor: Doing Our Bit for the Environment

February 12th 2014

Here at Solidor we're committed to the environment. Seeing as this week is officially 'Go Green Week' we thought we'd give you all a reminder of our green promise and also just how committed we are to bettering the world we live in.

Sustainable Construction

Not all composite doors can be recycled, however ours can. Not just for us here at Solidor but for a lot of people and companies around the world, caring for the environment is a big issue.

Almost everyone in this country recycles on a weekly, if not daily basis and here at Solidor we make sure that all of our composite doors can be fully recycled at the end of their extensive life span. On top of this, when we’ve manufactured the doors in our factory, we also make sure to recycle all of the off-cuts too. Some of these off-cuts end up as fruit bowls and candle holders too!

Energy Ratings

With the recent rise in energy bills, our doors are now more energy efficient and they will help to reduce your heating costs.

All of our products exceed the latest Building Regulations for energy efficiency. As well as this though, we include a specialist glass as standard and this helps to reduce the overall U-values in our doors.

On top of this too, we also have a currently on-going product development programme which has recently improved the energy efficiency of our doors. The PVCu door frames we use are all thermally efficient too and all of our products are fully manufactured in the UK.

RIPPLE Africa

Here at Solidor, we claim, and quite rightly too, that we lead the way in high quality composite doors and as you may know, we’re keen to better the world and our environment too.

Well, now we have an agreement with RIPPLE Africa to donate 20 cook stoves and also to plant 2,500 trees. This is as a part of our on-going support programme for the charity which helps to support families in Malawi.

The initial donation of 20 RIPPLE Rockets, which are safe and energy efficient cooking stoves, is for families in a country where over 90% of the population use wood or charcoal too cook with.

On top of this, Solidor is committed to helping to grow 2,500 senna siamea seeds in small polythene tubes. These will provide a sustainable source of quick growing fuel wood. Going forward, the company is committed to donating one of these for every composite door we sell.

This is something that is a part of the company’s ‘Green Promise’ and it will also benefit the families and people of Malawi.

So, from everyone here at Solidor, happy Go Green Week!
