Terraced Houses are typically a row of identical or mirror-image houses that share side walls. The first streets of terraced homes in Great Britain were built by entrepreneur Nicholas Barbon, a leading player in the reconstruction work after the Great Fire of London in 1666.
Although many of the original Georgian terraces were intended for the gentry (often featuring a rectangular fan light), with the advent of the industrial revolution they soon became more popular with the ‘working’ classes.
Street Level
Terraced houses frequently open directly on to the pavement and are often exposed to the traffic and to the elements. So when deciding on a new door for your terraced home, you’ll need to bear this in mind.
You’ll want a door that keeps you secure, is weatherproof and one that keeps the noise from the street at bay.
A Solidor could be the perfect choice for you!
Every Solidor is PAS-24 certified. In security terms, this means that our doors have been put through stringent physical and weather testing including attempting to cut a 50mm hole through the door in under 3 minutes. There’s also the added bonus that the unique 48mm solid core is great for keeping out the noise from passers-by.
Add your own style
In recent years, terraced home owners have had a great deal of choices available to them in terms of doors styles, glass options and colours.
As a result, if you own one of these traditional homes you can now create an entrance that is truly exclusive. You can keep it classic and go for a door style like the Flint Square, Tenby, or Berkley. Or you can set your entrance apart from your neighbours with your own unique twist.
How?
With colour, of course! Peacock Blue, Blue and Buttercup Yellow are all tipped to be popular in 2017.
Not a fan of bright colours? No problem. You can opt for a traditional colour like Black, Ruby Red or Green. But then go for a contemporary door style like the Milano, Genoa or Siena.
With 52 door styles, an industry leading 27 colour options and a vast array of glass & furniture options, the possibilities from Solidor are seemingly endless!
Your style. Your statement. Your Solidor.
