Saffi Karina’s
classic and timeless front door

Fashion model and digital content creator Saffi Karina has spent the past decade building a successful career, travelling the world, and living in New York. In 2022, she returned to the UK to start a solo home renovation project.

After years of city life and living in an apartment, she was ready for a complete change. Her peaceful cul-de-sac home is exactly what she was looking for, and the front door is the “last piece of the puzzle” in making her house truly feel like a home.

When Saffi first bought her 1950s three-bedroom semi, it had charm and character, but as she puts it, “it needed a lot of love and attention”. She continues: “The property had good bones, and I fell in love with its location and the strong community vibe. But I knew I could make it something special. I wanted to create something classic and timeless with a bit of a contemporary twist”.

Her original door had tons of history, but Saffi knew it was time for an update. She wanted the front of her home to reflect the fresh, modern energy she had created inside. As a frequent traveller, Saffi needed a door that was not only stylish but also kept her home secure. The old door was drafty, and she needed something that would keep the cold out and improve her home’s energy efficiency.

Before buying her door, Saffi turned to Pinterest for some design inspiration. A quick search led her to Solidor’s Instagram and the door designer, where she discovered a wide array of colours and styles – making it easy to imagine how a new door could transform her space.

“The door designer was super quick and easy to use,” she shared. “As a visual person, it really helped me to see what I wanted. I could mix and match different colours and hardware, playing around with different styles to find what worked best for my home.”

Saffi was inspired by the classic elegance of Georgian townhouses and instantly fell for the Tenby Solid in Black with its sophisticated appeal and on-trend gold hardware. It’s the perfect balance of timeless charm and modern style, and it gives her the level of security she needs.

She opted for three pieces of gold hardware on her door, including an additional doorknob above the letterbox, which she had seen on other classic doors and loved.

Saffi can’t help but smile every time she comes home to her new door. It’s a constant reminder of how far she’s come in her home renovation journey. Now that’s it’s in place, she’s excited to move on to the ‘fun’ part of her home renovation – the decoration and finishing touches.
