We asked a recent Solidor customer @thepainswickterrace about their recent experience. Asking the all-important questions, we delved into their new door motivations, getting to know what inspired their choice and how and why they began their Solidor journey…
Deciding to replace your front door we know takes a lot of consideration, what made you take the plunge?
We decided it was time to replace our front door because the original front door in our Victorian terrace was wooden, extremely old and had seen better days.
Why did you opt for this particular Solidor?
There were multiple cracks and gaps within the door and around the frame. This meant the cold and noise was inescapable and were desperately in need of a replacement.
In terms of style, I wanted a design that matched the original door so it was in keeping with the age of the property. For that reason, we went for the Ludlow Solid in Painswick, with a white frame and chrome door accessories.
And how was your installation experience?
It was installed by Derwent Windows and Doors in Nottingham who had amazing reviews online so I was confident that they would do a good job and they definitely did!

Are you happy with the end result?
The end result is simply gorgeous – we love it! Along with the ground floor new sash window which Derwent also installed at the same time, it has completely changed the look and feel of our house from the outside and inside.
Are there any benefits of the Solidor that you particularly like?
As well as how it looks, the most significant difference is that our room is so much warmer and quieter now! With no drafts and a huge reduction of the noise of the outside world, we couldn’t have asked for anything more!
Would you recommend your installer and why?
We’ve had the door nearly a year now and it looks as good as the day it was installed! I would definitely recommend Solidor and our installers Derwent Windows – in fact we are that in love with our front door and the service we received that I’ve just booked them to replace our back door with the same Ludlow Solidor – just in time for winter!
