A closer look at Solidor’s Pottery Blue

July 1st 2024

Pastel blue has been dominating interior design choices lately, with homeowners using this shade to make their living spaces more refined and calming.

The newest addition to Solidor’s colour range, Pottery Blue, offers a timeless option that draws inspiration from British history. Read more about how to style this shade in our latest blog…

The story behind our new Pottery Blue

Solidor’s Pottery Blue is inspired by the famous grey-blue colour of Wedgwood ceramics. This iconic pottery was first established in Burslem – one of six towns in Staffordshire that now forms Stoke-on-Trent, also known as The Potteries – in 1759. To this day, Wedgwood inspires everything from home interiors to lifestyle and fashion around the world. This symbolic blue tone represents history, classic style, and understated elegance.

Wedgwood was also the inspiration behind the signature colour of the Bridgerton family in Netflix hit Bridgerton. The set of the show is even described as ‘like being inside of a piece of Wedgwood ceramic’, according to Wedgwood.com. With the latest series of Bridgerton making its return this summer, it’s no wonder that blue is gaining popularity. Solidor’s soft Pottery Blue mirrors the opulence of the show and reflects high society while effortlessly complementing neutral tones.

How to incorporate blue into your home

From the charming streets of Ireland to sun-kissed homes in Greece, blue doors are popular all around the world as well as in the UK. But blue isn’t just a trendy front door colour choice… it also has cultural significance in many places, with it heavily utilised in art, sculpture, fashion and jewellery from as far back as ancient Egypt.

Solidor’s Pottery Blue harmonises perfectly with neutral hues, making it a great shade to complement your home décor and personal style. If you want to elevate your home and invite more vibrant tones, why not try colour drenching? ‘Colour drenching’ is one of 2024’s key interior design trends. The term refers to painting walls, ceilings, installations and even objects of a room the same shade.

Make use of this trend in your home by adding accents of blue. We recommend layering cushions and using wallpaper with hints of blue to create a dimensional but cohesive look. If you’re looking to make a statement, try introducing a blue feature wall into your home.
