Back in December you may have seen our television advert “doors you’ll love coming home to” and the star of the show was our Ludlow. in Midnight Grey What you didn’t know is that this famous door is owned by our very own Neil Butterwick; the Supply Chain Manager, based at our Solidor factory in Stoke.
Working at Solidor for over two and a half years, we wanted to know what made Neil make the change and with ample opportunity to get a Solidor front door over the years, why now and particularly why this design? Having a quick break from the day job, we sat down and had a chat to discuss…
So let’s get down to it, the most obvious question – why Solidor?
“I’m a big advocate for British manufacturing and opting for a Solidor was the only choice for me when considering changing my front door. Working for Solidor I knew that my entrance door of dreams was in the right hands. Knowing the way in which they are made, and the attention to detail that is taken throughout the manufacturing and quality processes, I was confident that the front door I designed and ordered would be an exact match to what would be the main feature of my home by the time of installation.”
Your door was installed in October so fairly recently, why now and have you experienced any teething problems?
“I decided now was the right time for a new composite door simply because the Midnight Grey colour had just been launched and I wanted it for myself! I was part of the project team developing the new colours launched in August 2020 and just could not stop envisaging it on the front of my home.
Of course, working at Solidor I have a strong knowledge of the product and what design I had in mind, however it wasn’t just my decision, naturally I had to consult my wife Jo! It was really great to complete the design process with the help of the Solidor door designer. Getting a visual representation of the composition of the final look and feel of our Solidor made the decision that bit easier and to top it off, Jo didn’t have a bad word to say about my choice!
With a few months under our belt, our Solidor is looking as good as the first day it was installed and is the perfect new face to our home.”
Pairing the Ludlow in Midnight Grey with the complementary trio square grey glazed panels and brushed stainless steel hardware from the architectural range, Jo and Neil have really created a Solidor composite door to be proud of. Commenting on the reception their new front door has received Neil said:
“The change has definitely not gone unnoticed. Being part of a housing estate that has slight variations of the same white door on every home, we definitely stand out from the crowd and for all the right reasons!
From concept to design, we really enjoyed every aspect of the process. I can now say I am a proud owner of my very own Solidor and we couldn’t be happier with the result.”
