Glenys tells us why she chose Solidor

June 4th 2018

Glenys lives in a 1950’s style former RAF officer’s house in Wilmslow, Cheshire.  The house was sold by the Ministry of Defence to private owners in the 1960’s when the RAF base closed.

Glenys tells us that the original door would have been timber but that during the 1980’s many of the homeowners in the area replaced their doors with white uPVC types which were proving popular at the time.  It’s this door that Glenys has decided to replace.

The white uPVC door was very old fashioned and made the front of my house look quite dated.  On top of that it was not very secure at all and wobbled around in the frame.  The security features were the main reason that I wanted to replace it as I’d worked in the Police Crime Prevention unit for many years and knew the risks of having a poorly fitted front door.

Like many homeowners Glenys did a lot of research about the different types of doors that are available today.

I found the Solidor website almost straight away, and had a good look around.  I found that their range was far more comprehensive than any of the other door companies that I’d looked at.  The Solidor website was really easy to navigate and I was impressed with the design your door function.  It’s great to be able to “Design a Door” that’s completely unique to you and your home.

The security features offered by Solidor really appealed to me. Aagain after researching different door companies online, Solidor stood out as being the most secure offering.  I liked that the doors have a solid timber core rather than foam filled and that it is fitted with a high security Ultion cylinder.

Glenys finally found her perfect door, a Tenby Solid in Painswick with two floor length side panels.

I knew I wanted a solid door so chose to have two full length side panels in a lovely muted glass with clear edging and my house number etched, to let some natural light into the hall.   I chose not to have a handle on the door as I liked the idea of having a thumbturn cylinder.

I am so pleased with the end result and have had so many compliments about my new door.  It’s been a pleasure to do business with such professional people and the product couldn’t be better.  I believe these are the best replacement doors around, at competitive prices. But above all, amazing quality.  Thank you Solidor!
