When Mr & Mrs Iredale came to replace their front door they had two priorities – looks and security. “We live in an old Lancashire farmhouse built in the 1800s,” Mr Iredale told us. “The existing front entrance had a single wooden door and we saw the potential for a more impactful entranceway by replacing the single door with double doors. We wanted something that would look great, would complement the style of the house and would give us reassuring levels of security.”
When researching front door types, the Solidor brand stood out to Mr Iredale: “I wanted the appearance of wood but I knew I didn’t want a timber door because we live a busy life and I knew I’d never get around to sanding and varnishing it regularly. I knew about Solidor and was particularly impressed with the woodgrain effect – their doors really do look like wood. When I watched a video online showing how easy it is to break into some of the cheaper composite doors, my decision was made and we started looking at the different styles of Solidor front doors.”
It was the Solidor Florence, part of the Italia Collection, which caught the couple’s eye. “When we saw the Florence we knew it would create the entranceway we had in our minds,” said Mr Iredale. “It’s a good looking door, modern but with an authentic feel of real wood that suits the style of our period house. When we saw it we immediately thought the style of the Florence door really lends itself to being a double door and we love the glazing panels which allow lots of light into the hallway.”
Mr & Mrs Iredale are very happy Solidor customers: “We highly recommend Solidor – when we were comparing them with the other doors available, they stood out to us by a long way.”
