Need A New Door? Go Down The Composite Route

June 19th 2013

Your front door is the gateway into your property. The back door plays an equally important role so when either of them begins to demonstrate gradual signs of wear and tear you know that the time has come to get them replaced.

As a door weakens it becomes less reliable in terms of security. The last thing you want to do is put your home at risk simply because you failed to pay attention to a weakening frame or flimsy locking system; it could prove to be a very costly mistake.

If you’re currently in the market for a new front or back door and aren’t sure where to start then we recommend that consider getting a composite replacement.

When you first set your eyes on a composite door you will be surprised at how much it resembles a traditional timber door due to the wood grain effect that runs through it. But just because it shares a likeness to timber doesn’t mean that it suffers from the same problems that commonly occur in a timber frame.

As time progresses and the weather gets hold of a timber door it can start to lose the appearance that first appealed to you. This can only be rectified by undertaking regular repainting and varnishing which can be time-consuming and let’s face be honest, annoying. A composite door on the other hand is completely maintenance-free.

Solidor composite doors for example have a life expectancy in excess of 25 years, so 5, 10, even 15 years down the line; you can expect your door to look as good as new. Soapy water and a cloth will be all that’s required to shift any dirt or grim that a composite door picks up.

But its main quality is its strength.

It’s called a composite door because it is composed of several different materials which when combined together create the toughest door frame imaginable. Anyone who tries to shoulder a composite door is likely to find themselves in the upmost agony such is its durability under pressure.

And it doesn’t sacrifice styling for strength. A whole host of finishes can be applied to a composite door so whatever needs replacing or wherever you live, there will be a ready-made coloured composite replacement door waiting.
