Nathan lives in a 1970’s detached chalet bungalow with his wife in Bromley, Greater London. The couple were concerned that their old glass porch and Upvc door didn’t provide them with an adequate level of privacy or security and so they decided to start looking for an upgrade.
Nathan Comments: When driving in the local area we noticed a similar style house to ours and really liked their front door. We stopped to ask the homeowner where they’d purchased it from but when they advised that it was a timber door we were concerned about the upkeep and it would fair with the changing weather. We definitely wanted something similar though.
Nathan took to the internet to research composite doors and Solidor was one of the first companies that he came across.
Solidor popped up as soon as I started looking online. We we’re burgled in 2010 so it was great to see that they offer a high level of security. The Ultion lock cylinder was something that stood out to me in particular.
Nathan asked his friends for recommendations on a good local door installer and was given the details of Jackie at 1st Scenic who are part of the Solidor Installer network. They have a wealth of experience in fitting the doors and we’re able to help Nathan throughout the whole process.
Nathan and his wife did find it hard to come to a decision of the door style, mainly because there we’re just so many to choose from. They finally agreed on the Palermo door in Irish Oak as it was a similar colour to the timber door they’d seen on a property nearby.
Nathan explains: From the outset nothing was too much trouble for 1st Scenic. My wife and I did find it hard to make a final decision but no pressure was ever applied and the advice given was amazing. When it came to fitting, it was an easy day and they worked around our builders as we’re having other renovation work done too.
