Let’s not forget the humble back door

April 30th 2019

We often focus a lot of our attention on the front door and with good reason too.  The front door is the first thing that guests see when they arrive at your home, giving visitors a good indication of what they can expect when they come inside.

The back door to your home is often over looked. However, for security reasons we think it’s just as important as the front.

A lot of homeowners opt for a lower spec’d door when it comes to replacing the back door. However, a somewhat surprising fact is that around 20% of burglaries in the UK occur through the rear door and around 30% through the front.  So just because the back door to your home is less visible to passers-by, don’t forget about it when making those all-important home improvements.

When it comes to replacing the back door you have more options than you think. You can choose from;

A standard door – One single door which comes in an array of different styles, you also have the option of having them with or without glazing.  Why not think about matching the front and back doors in terms of colour and furniture options too?

A stable door – These are a charming alternative to standard back door as they give you the ability to open the top part of the door to let in an abundance of additional light and fresh air, whilst keeping your children and pets safe inside.  They’re also very well suited to both modern and traditional properties.

French Doors – If you’re lucky enough to own a home which a large opening at the rear, then French doors could be the perfect choice for you.  They’re great for letting in additional light and a fantastic option if you want to extend your living space in to the garden during the summer months.

Whatever you decide you can be confident in the knowledge that every door manufactured by Solidor is made with a 48mm solid timber core, the highest rated features and a police approved “Secure by Design” endorsement.
